On the afternoon of August 5, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor had an official meeting with the high-ranking delegation of the The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) led by Mr. Kim Dongmyeong, President of the FKTU.
At the reception, President Nguyen Dinh Khang, on behalf of more than 11.5 million Vietnamese trade union members, expressed his gratitude to the Korean Government for sending representatives to attend the funeral of late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and to the FKTU and Mr. Kim Dongmyeong personally for sending condolences and encouragement to the Vietnam Trade Unions, Vietnamese workers, and the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

President Nguyen Dinh Khang assessed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea in 1992, the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) has continuously developed, becoming increasingly effective and practical.
Currently, there are 8 industrial trade unions and 12 provincial labor federations under the Vietnam Trade Union that have cooperative relations and exchange delegations with the provincial and municipal trade union federations of Korea.
Also at the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and The Federation of Korean Trade Unions discussed the general situation of trade union activities in each country. The two sides agreed on the common perception that the two trade union organizations of workers have the same function of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers.

President Nguyen Dinh Khang said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor recently celebrated its 95th anniversary on July 28, 2024. With a 4-level operating structure, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has actively implemented and achieved many important results in performing the task of representing, caring for and protecting union members and workers, such as: Participating in the development of legal policies related to labor such as the Law on Social Insurance, the Law on Employment, the Law on Housing and the Law on Trade Unions. Representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have effectively performed their role as members of the National Wage Council, successfully negotiating the increase in regional minimum wages over the past 5 years with a rise of 23%, and continuing to increase by 6% from July 1, 2024...
In its operational orientation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor always attaches importance to promoting friendly relations and cooperation with trade unions of other countries, in which the relationship with The Federation of Korean Trade Unions is especially valued in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea that has been developing very well.
Highly appreciating the effective and diverse cooperative relationship with the FKTU, President Nguyen Dinh Khang hopes that the FKTU leadership will continue to pay attention, together with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, to promote the relationship between the two sides through practical and effective activities; maintain annual exchanges of high-level bilateral delegations, deepen cooperation activities between the industries and labor federations of the two countries, and enhance experience sharing; support each other to build harmonious labor relations, protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers working abroad, improve working conditions and environment, towards the goal of decent work for all workers…
