From August 12 to 16th, a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union led by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung visited and worked in Belarus.
On August 12th, the delegation had a meeting with Chairman Yuri Senko and the FTUB leadership. Chairman Yuri Senko shared the activities of FTUB in the past time, the difficulties and solutions of the Belarusian Trade Union organization in the current period.
The FTUB Chairman highly appreciated the traditional relationship with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and suggested that both sides review and update the content of the Memorandum of Understanding signed and implemented since 2015.
In his speech, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung sent congratulations from President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang to Mr. Yuri Senko who was elected as Chairman of the FTUB from March 2024, and at the same time, thanked Mr. Yuri Senko personally and the FTUB leadership for always caring, supporting, and sending letters of solidarity to the activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor recently, such as the condolence message when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, the congratulatory message to the 13th National Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Vice President Nguyen Xuan Hung also shared the orientations and priority tasks of the 13th National Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The Congress also determined to continue promoting cooperative relations with international partners, especially with traditional partners such as the Belarusian Trade Union. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor agreed to continue to maintain and promote cooperation and exchanges between the two sides' trade unions; jointly study and share experiences in trade union activities, improve the capacity of trade union officials at all levels; support and assist each other in multilateral mechanisms; jointly review and evaluate the implementation of the 2015 Memorandum of Understanding, and discuss appropriate adjustments to suit the reality.
In his concluding remarks at the meeting, the FTUB Chairman expressed that in addition to cooperation between the two trade union organizations, he hoped that investment and trade cooperation between the two countries would have new developments and would prefer to visit and work with the VGCL in the near future.
During the working program, the VGCL Delegation visited and worked with many units and grassroots trade unions of the Civil Servants' Trade Union, Industrial Trade Union, Agricultural Trade Union, Medical Trade Union, Construction Trade Union, and Telecommunications Trade Union of Belarus. The Delegation also visited and worked at a number of FTUB's affiliated units such as MITSO International University, Orbita complex, Krinitsa and Naroch health and rehabilitation resorts.
During the working sessions, the Delegation spent a lot of time exchanging and learning about information and experiences of Belarusian trade unions at all levels on the operating mechanism, policy-making, and labor-related law-making, negotiation and signing of Collective Bargaining Agreements, management and operation of units providing services to union members and society, etc.
