Many landlords in Ho Chi Minh City have organized Tet programs for workers such as giving gifts, holding parties, and inviting singers to perform for the workers. Ho Chi Minh City’s Labor Federation also held a meeting and gave gifts (1 million VND/piece) to more than 90 families of workers who did not return home to celebrate Tet on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Happy to receive Tet gifts from the landlords
The rental houses of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thuong, in Quarter 3, Phuoc Long A, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, was bustling and vibrant last weekend, with dozens of households of workers. While staying here, they were able to attend the gift giving program organized by Ms. Thuong's family.
Mrs. Tran Thi Ly - worker of Phu Khang Garment Company - said that she has rented a house from Mrs. Thuong's family for nearly 20 years. Currently, she and her daughter are renting a room of more than 20 square meters for 1.7 million VND/month. Every year, Mrs. Thuong's family organizes Tet gifts for the tenants.
"Each rental household was given a gift with many products to use during Tet, everyone felt very happy and warm" - Mrs. Ly said.
Similarly, Mr. Ho Tan Dung, a native of Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province - a person who has also stayed at Mrs. Thuong's family since 1991 - also said he felt very happy to receive Tet gifts giving program hosted by Mrs.Thuong.
Ms. Thuong said that previously she worked as a worker at Phong Phu Textile Company and participated in trade union. Due to family circumstances, she resigned from her job more than a decade ago and stayed at home to manage her family's rental houses with more than 100 rooms.
It was her years of working as a worker and doing trade union tasks that gave her a better understanding of the lives and needs of workers who have to rent a house and cannot return to visit their families when Tet comes. Therefore, she always finds ways to support and take care of the residents.
Only in 2024 Lunar New Year, Ms. Thuong gave 80 Tet gifts, worth 200,000 VND/piece (total value of 16 million VND) to tenants.
More than 70 landlords organized Tet caring program for their residents

In addition to the year-end party, he also gave each tenant a gift set including cooking oil, fish sauce, soft drink, and a small box of cakes to use during Tet. This is the 18th year that he and his wife have held a year-end party for the residents.
"I used to work as a worker when I first moved from my hometown in Binh Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business and understood the feelings of people working far away from home during Tet, so I organized a year-end party to hope everyone would have fun and reunite together."
As for Mrs. Bui Thi Ben - the landlord in Tang Nhon Phu A Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, with 35 rooms rented by more than 80 workers, employees, and students - every year she organizes hundreds of sticky rice cakes to donate for the tenants.
